A small win might be counting one more object, asking for help, or choosing to try again. Learning is full of moments that deserve to be noticed before the final answer arrives.
Name the action you noticed
Try saying “You checked each block carefully” or “You found a different way to sort them.” Specific observations help a child see what they did and which strategy they might use again.
Let the learner lead
Offer a choice of two activities and let your child set a small goal. Finish with a question: “What do you want to try next time?” Keep the next step small enough to feel inviting.
