Words become more memorable when they belong to something a child can see, touch, or do. A kitchen, a walk, or a favorite story can be the start of a word adventure.
Start with what is nearby
Choose three objects. Name each one, describe its color or shape, and use the word in a sentence. Let your child invent a funny sentence too. If you use another language, connect the new word with the object itself.
Make it a playful habit
Play “I spy” at breakfast. Put a label on a toy box. Return to a familiar story and look for one new word. Keep practice short, welcoming, and connected to your child’s interests.
